2/18/2024 Exhibition Game Leprechauns at Medora

Updated: Feb 29

Sunday, February 18th at 3pm the game began. Although this was not a regular season game, it sure felt like one.

The Starting line up: #5 Demarius Brooks

#7 Eron Harris

#8 Carter Skaggs

#11 Ron Washington

Starters were warmed up and ready for the battle ahead. The players were getting their jitters out and their focus as a whole was fixated on a win. Everyone looked good out there today. You can see how organized the guys are in their plays. New jerseys and shooter shirts were on full display, impressive as always, thanks to Crossroads Imprints in Lebanon. David Magley was in attendance to root for the teams. Even though the drive was roughly 2 hours for most Leprechaun FAM, there were several in attendance. Inspiring the boys to buckle down and work hard, the FAM was there in full Leprechaun gear. This game was fast paced and close in points the entire time. All spectators were on the edge of their seats.

"Rooting on our Lebanon Leprechauns in a feisty preseason opener! This year's team seems to have great stamina. By the second half, I could see them playing with a team mindset" -Kris Spate (VP of Player Resources)

At the end of the first quarter, Medora had the lead 39 to 26. As the game went on the chemistry of the team really showed through. They were synced up and performing nicely. At halftime, Medora had the lead 72 to 50. We weren't giving up yet. The guys were showing us they were not stopping and allowing that lead to be lengthened. At the end of the 3rd quarter, Medora lead 91 to 75. At game finish, Medora had snagged the win 122 to 107. The Leprechauns steadily kept up and didn't let that lead stretch out any further.

“The value of an exhibition game is to find out what the team is doing well, and what needs to be worked on. I saw some real positives that makes me very hopeful for this season, but chief among them was the Leprechauns’ willingness to fight through adversity and not quit when we got down. We dug a big hole, climbed out of it, dug another one, and nearly gotten out of that one, too. Definitely a good sign. Some guys really showed well, and that on a day where we were missing two key contributors who

will be ready to go by our regular season opener. If we cleanup some little things, keep working on getting better defensively everyday, then this should be a very good team and exciting to watch. All credit goes to the Medora Timberjacks. They are going to have a great season too, and have signed some excellent players. Greg Foster is one of the best guards in the TBL, and he really drives their offense well. We will see them again on St. Patrick’s Day, and I think that will definitely be a great battle that no one will want to miss."

-Preston Myers, The Leprechauns' Team President

Luck will have nothing to do with this match. All hard work and determination will be utilized on every front this fan is sure of it!

Dionte had the most points by player, 28 credited to him tonight. Eron Harris following behind Raines with 18 points. Carter Skaggs blew us away sinking multiple 3 point shots with a total of 17 points scored in this game. Coach Benson led the guys through this game with great wisdom. We are so proud to have him as our coach.

“This game was a step in the right direction for us because it was our first game together and it showed us what we need to work on. I’m super proud of my guys because even though we dug ourselves in a hole, we fought back and didn’t quit, which is a great sign early in the season. With more reps in practice, we will build better chemistry, make the right adjustments, and continue getting better together as a team. Our goal is a TBL championship and I believe we have the team to do it!”

As always the game was a fantastic performance by all of the players. The athleticism and talent is truly mind blowing in these games. I am forever impressed by these guys. After the game, the guys were in good spirits, shaking hands and giving hugs to everyone, you could not even tell they had not won the game. Great job guys, now let's start counting down until March 1st for that first season game. Let's go FAM, the Leprechauns are back and ready to rock the hardwood.
