Leprechaun's Spotlight - Dillon Ware

Every week a spotlight is shown on one of our Leprechauns, this week we are focusing in on our #3, Dillon Ware. Dillon is one of the youngest players on our team at age 22, he is 6'7" and 200 lbs. He is always looking for ways to improve, he wants to be the best. His determination is an inspiration. He is focused on reaching his goals, AND he is just an all around nice guy!

Born to Chad Ware and Vanessa Mitchell, Dillon was born and raised in Danville, IN. Dillon's parents also include step-parents Ashley Ware and John Hensley. Dillon has 9 total siblings, 6 on his dad's side (Jake, Charles, Alex, Taetum, Tinslee, and Kaidon), and 3 on his mom's side (Kolton, Ava, and Luke).

Growing up in Danville, IN, Dillon played all four years varsity basketball at Danville Community High School. Dillon enjoyed sports growing up and played basketball, baseball, and football. "Basketball was my worst sport of the three," Dillon says. Even though it was his "worst" sport, he has loved it the most even before he was able to dunk. That is hard to believe considering the skill he has. He must have been very good at baseball and football if basketball was his worst. Imagine!

Dillon played college basketball at IU-Kokomo for a season. He played in 6 games total and started 5 of those games. Unfortunately, we all remember the effects of Covid-19, college basketball wasn't safe from the epidemic. The season was cut short due to Covid, and Dillon and his teammates weren't able to finish what they started.

"When I first saw Dillon play, I thought he wasn’t anywhere near ready but the next tryout he made a huge improvement. Not sure what happened between the first and second tryout but he definitely made an impression. As the season went on he continued to show what he could do, not only on the court but in the community. Dillon is loved by so many people in Lebanon and it’s an honor to have him back for his second season. It was like pulling teeth, convincing him to come back but he has definitely made an impact already on the team. Very thankful to have Dillon back and his impact on the team and community!"

If Dillon isn't working, training, or being a family man, you can find him out and about with our #14 Alex Brown.
